Realizing the Benefits of Laptops.
Laptops and learning devices in the students hands are a given standard in the future of education. Today's learning, not doubt pushed by commercial advantages and the fact that these tools also are used as personal learning devices means that a child simply cannot learn in the future without a learning device. Keep in mind the pundits that have once argued against learning devices in the hands of learners put forth similar arguments when the devices were $3000. Now that they are closer to $300, and given the fact that these tools are required to respond to changes in the learning strategies such as the flipped classroom, it is no longer a question of when but how.
This slide show located here contains six questions to hep you create a framework and culture for using learning devices in your school. These questions help develop a culture of learning and are more specifically aimed at school wide policies rather than specific framework for technology implementation.
Technology in Education.
There are many of us that consider these devices as disruptions in the classroom. This is not doubt a valid point but arguable that is not a negative one in many cases either. Disruptive technologies permit better engagement and access to learning materials for every child. In the hands of a good teacher they are instruments that will weave magic to each and every individual in a specifically drafted learning goals. As education moves away from the 'one size fits all' to a more personalized network of learning resources and disruptive learning strategies, students will be required to organize themselves and arrange fragments of learning objects into meaningful learning. All future trends, including digital learning content will require each student to have their own device, thus technology has multiple benefits and has a place in learning today.
